The purpose of this study was to determine what type of content directors of marketing and sports information directors of NCAA Division I college athletic programs found most important on their athletic department's official web site. A secondary purpose of this study was to determine how directors of marketing and sports information directors of NCAA Division I collegiate athletic programs self-reported their performance in providing the type of content they find most important to have on their department's official athletic web site. Surveys were collected from 229 sports information directors and directors of marketing of NCAA Division I athletic programs. Each subject was asked to rate the important of each of 12 types of content to a collegiate athletic web site as well as rate their web site's performance in providing each type of content. Subjects found historical information to be most important and they felt their web site was best providing historical information.
