Thesis (Ph.D.)--New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, 2008.
The purpose of the dissertation was to determine if there was any difference between the selected variables and the decision of post-Katrina senior adults in selected Southern Baptist Convention churches in Orleans Parish to stay permanently in the parish. The instrument used was the Needs Assessment Survey, created by the researcher. The survey included 5 scales: Very Important, Somewhat Important, Undecided, Somewhat Not Important, and Not Important. The five need-categories included: Church, Medical System, Local Government, National Government, and Insurance Industry. Each category contained five items pertinent to each particular category. A preliminary regression analysis on the five variables indicated all the variables were non-significant. The variables were found to have non-normal distributions that were highly skewed. Therefore, variables were transformed in the logarithm, square root, and square. The results remained non-significant. Thus, the analyses, using factor analysis and multiple regression, were terminated. Limitations, strengths, and future research studies are discussed.
