Thesis (Psy.D.)--Carlos Albizu University, 2008.
According to the United Nations agency for population, and the Bureau of the Census of the United States, the population of the world shows its greatest projected increases in the years 2000, 2025 and 2050 in the age cohorts 65+, most of the increases is registered in the 65-75 year age group. The increases poses a problem for all societies, as it is paralleled by an increase in medical, social welfare and social security expenditures, particularly for this group. This proposal suggests that thought should be given to "recycling" the skills and capabilities among this age group, so that they may contribute to the expenditures through continued employment. In order to do this, it is proposed that a test of memory, of vocational and motoric abilities including both neuropsychological and psychoeducational subtests should be used to test the elderly retired who are desirous of returning to the work force, so that they may be employed in positive commensurate with their physical and cognitive abilities.
