Thesis (M.A.)--University of Nebraska at Omaha, 2010.
This study's objective was to determine whether or not a correlation exists between two variables that have previously been connected to the quality of care residents receive in assisted living/long-term care settings: employees' attitudes toward aging and job satisfaction. As quality care is of the utmost importance when working with aging persons, it was hypothesized that, if a positive correlation did in fact exist, methods could be implemented in said facilities such that employees' attitudes toward aging and job satisfaction could be increased, thus increasing the quality of care to residents. Spector's Job Satisfaction Survey (JSS) was used to determine employee job satisfaction, and Kogan's Attitudes Toward Old People Scale (OP) was used to determine employee attitudes' toward aging.

Results indicate that the overall hypothesis cannot be accepted as there are no significant correlations to support a relationship between an employee's attitudes toward aging and his or her job satisfaction. In fact, a very slight negative relationship between the two variables emerged as a result of this study. Possible reasons for this finding are discussed in detail. Numerous limitations with this study are also noted in the paper itself.
