Thesis (M.S.)--California State University, Long Beach, 2007.
This project report examines America's implementation of the community-oriented model of policing. Roles of the community and police force in generating progress are of particular interest. The broken windows theory is examined for justifiable foundation of the community-oriented policing philosophy. The topic of implementation encompasses police agency, police officer, and community progress of reform. The purpose of this project report is to determine the status of the transition to community-oriented policing and locate methods of facilitating the transition. Accordingly, the included review of the literature is related to community, officer, and organizational transitions toward the community-oriented model of policing.
