Thesis (M.A.)--Sarah Lawrence College, 2006.
This thesis explores the lives of six Salvadoran immigrant women, living in New York, whose poverty, regional and international migration, and experiences with the civil war are linked to U.S. influence and intervention in El Salvador. This project also examines the formal and informal networks that these women have developed for their survival. A consciousness has also been developed and it has allowed them to understand their positions as women immigrant workers in a global economy. Through their networks and awareness these women have been encouraged to confront, question, and fight against what they think and know is unjust.
