COVID-19 outbreak in Taiwan in May, 2021. The CECC announced that the nationwide Level 3 alert for COVID-19 had been extended until July 26. People felt alienated from the crowd due to pandemic prevention. Uncertainty trend of the pandemic, economic downturn and rumor made people scared. People even cannot go travel to relax themselves during the third level of alert. The Negative emotion which people had accumulated could be easily worsen to anxiety. It may be reflected in the degree of satisfaction with the quality of life. Especially for the elderly with a high mortality rate, their physical and mental condition are generally poor, the same as their judgment. They may judge wrongly because of rumors. That’s why we should care about them urgently. The purpose of this study was to take the middle-aged and elderly people over 45 years old in Nantou County as the research object, then discussed the anxiety and quality of life of the elderly during the three-level alert period. This research adopted the questionnaire survey, including basic demographic data, Generalized Anxiety Disorder 7–Item, and World Health Organization Quality of Life (WHOQOL). Questionnaires was released on July 24-25 and October 30.275 and 245 questionnaires were recovered respectively. According to the statistics, most middle-aged and elderly people were anxiety-free. The rate accounted for 52.9%. It showed that 47.1% of respondents were anxious during the three-level alert period. During the two-level alert period, most middle-aged and elderly were anxiety-free. The rate accounted for 50.6%. It showed that 49.4% of respondents were anxious. We should concern about an increased proportion of anxiety. When it comes to the outcome of the quality of life, the total average of every domains during the three-level and two-level alert were 3.57 and 3.49. Even though the number dropped slightly, it was between moderate and good. It also meant that the quality of life of the interviewees remained well during the three-level and two-level alert. To reduce the impact of the pandemic on the anxiety of middle-aged and elderly people, we recommend them maintain a normal daily routine, and encourage them to think positively, in order to relieve pressure and relax..
