摘要註:	「老人」一詞涵蓋不同年齡、文化、種族或宗教之長者，本文之研究對象僅限於南投縣潭南村之部落基督教信仰長者。相較於全臺基督徒人口僅約占總人口6%至7%，原住民族部落中基督宗教的信仰比例明顯偏高，顯示基督教在台灣部落社會中扮演重要的精神支持與社會互動角色。然而，當長者進入生命晚期，基督教之參與活動是否能真正協助其建構生命意義與達到生命安頓之境地，雖有相關研究文獻可參考，但仍待進一步探討。本研究是以潭南村布農族基督教長者為研究對象，選取55歲以上且具有穩定教會參與經驗之長者共12位，探討其宗教參與動機及其與生命意義建構之關聯。本研究第一階段，也就是主要的步驟，是採用生命敘事作為研究設計，透過生命故事取向之無特定目標之訪談，對相關語言進行編碼。編碼分析與分類，主要是依韋伯(M.Weber)對於「崇拜」(Worship)與「魔法」(Magic)之區分，並就生命敘事透顯之生活滿意度進行態度定調。第二階段則運用修正之Attitudes Toward God Scale（ATGS-9）進行量化問卷調查，一方面交互檢證質量化研究結果，二方面也是以編碼分析來檢驗量表測量之信度。兩階段研究之間，刻意安排三個月的時間間隔，以降低研究情境與研究者效應。本研究期望透過質量資料之整合分析，深化對部落長者宗教參與動機的理解，並檢視宗教信仰在生命晚期所提供之心理支持與生命意義建構功能之真實面貌，進而為原住民族長者照顧服務，提供務實之參考。

This dissertation’s research objects are completely the elders of Bunun community in Tannan Village, Xinyi Township, Nantou County. Compared to the general population in Taiwan, in which Christians account for only about 6% to 7%, the proportion of Christian believers in tribal communities is considerably higher. This phenomenon indicates that religion constitutes a highly concentrated and stable belief structure within tribal societies, serving as an important source of spiritual support and social interaction for Bunun Christian elders. However, with the existence of many relevant researches, whether religious participation in later life genuinely helps Christian elders construct a sense of life meaning and achieve spiritual peace remains an issue worthy of deeper investigation. A total of twelve participants aged 55 and above who regularly participate in church activities were selected to explore their motivations for religious participation and its relationship with the construction of life meaning. In the first stage, that is also a major step, interviews without purposes based on life narratives were conducted to collect qualitative data on the participants’ religious experiences. There will be some language coding according to M. Weber’s distinction between “worship” and “magic”, and separate attitude of life satisfaction will be concerned positively or negatively .In the second stage, a modified version of the Attitudes Toward God Scale (ATGS-9) was employed to conduct a quantitative survey, allowing for cross-validation of the findings. In fact, the result of language coding will be utilized as a tool to check the reliability of scale measurement. The time interval of three months was intentionally arranged between the two stages to reduce contextual and researcher effects. By integrating and comparing qualitative and quantitative data, this study aims to deepen the understanding of the motivations behind formal religious participation among Indigenous Bunun Christian elders and to examine the real impact of religious belief in providing psychological support and facilitating the construction of life meaning in later life. The findings may also contribute to provide the practical finding referring to the community-based long-term care services.
